The American Boötes Astronomical Society is a nonprofit organization based in D.C. dedicated to advancing astronomy education and aerospace awareness across North America. With a special focus on students, our mission is to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and stargazers through hands-on learning and community outreach.
Each year, we host our signature Star Party in the Washington, D.C. area, bringing together amateur astronomers, students, educators, and the public for a night under the stars. Our summer camps, designed for students of 9-12 grade levels, offer immersive experiences in introductory astronomy, telescope operation, and astrophotography 101, all led by passionate educators and professionals in the field.
In addition to education, we actively promote dark sky awareness, encouraging responsible lighting practices and a deeper appreciation of our night skies. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a budding astrophysicist, the American Boötes Astronomical Society offers a gateway to explore the universe—and your place within it.
