2023 ABAS activities in DC

ABAS held many fun activities in 2023 throughout the greater D.C. area. We highlight some of them in the following albums.

On May 21, 2023, the lawn of Kent Gardens Elementary School in Falls Church was transformed into an impromptu observatory, inviting the local community on a celestial journey. This ‘Roadside Astronomy’ event was more than just a casual gathering—it was a vibrant testament to shared curiosity and the universal wonder of the night sky.

On May 22, 2023, ABAS hosted another ‘roadside astronomy night.’ It was an immense success, attracting hundreds of people who stopped by to learn about the planets in the night sky.

On May 24th, 2025,  ABAS joined Haycock Elementary school in DC for a fun day with solar astronomy. Young students learned basic solar facts and viewed the Sun through a dedicated telescope. 

On May 24, 2025, ABAS hosted a roadside astronomy event on the National Mall, drawing numerous tourists who stopped to observe the night sky in front of the Capitol.

On June 2, 2023, ABAS spent a fun and engaging day at Kent Gardens Elementary School, offering planet lectures and hands-on activities including solar and planetary viewing.

In October 2023, members of the American Bootes Astronomical Society embarked on their much-anticipated Solar Eclipse Road Trip, a memorable journey perfectly captured in this album.
